PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indigo dyeing method, which carries out an indigo beating dyeing or indigo green leaf dyeing without requiring a new enzyme source at any time at any place if only water is present. SOLUTION: Reaped indigo green leaves are lyophilized. The lyophilized green leaves are beaten on a material to be dyed at the point of dyeing or water is added to indigo green leaves, which are ground and the obtained dyeing solution is used. When indigo green leaves are lyophilized, a hydrolase does not function by removal of water from green leaves, conversion from indican to indoxyl is suppressed, however, the enzyme is not deactivated. The lyophilized green leaves are provided with water at the point of time of dyeing, the enzyme functions to convert indican to indoxyl. Accordingly, when water is present, indigo beating dyeing or indigo green leaf dyeing is performed at any time at any place without requiring a new enzyme source. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
