PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device to stably feed sheets one by one by certainly separating the sheets even under a circumstance of high temperature and high humidity against the sheets of large size, thick sheets, coated paper the surface of which is smooth etc. SOLUTION: This paper feeding device is furnished with; a paper feeding tray 31 to load a sheet bundle made of a plurality of the sheets; a first air blasting means 40 to blast air to a side end of the sheet bundle loaded on the paper feeding tray 31; a second air blasting means 50 to blast air to head ends in the carrying direction of the sheets of the sheet bundle from a direction to carry the sheets; a sheet adsorbing and carrying means 60 to carry the sheets by adsorbing them one by one from the sheet on the upper most level of the sheet bundle loaded on the paper feeding tray 31 by suction of air; a shielding means to shield blasting of air from the first air blasting means 40; a sheet adsorption detection means to detect that the sheets are adsorbed by the sheet adsorbing carrying means and; a control means to change and control ventilation and shielding of air blasting by the first air blasting means 40 by opening and closing a shielding member 45.
