PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an activity meter capable of accurately computing the quantity of activity while reducing the manufacturing cost and reducing the processing time. SOLUTION: The activity meter includes an acceleration detecting means 1 composed of an acceleration sensor 1a to be attached to a user's body and an A-D converting part 1b for converting the output of the acceleration sensor 1a to the digital acceleration value by sampling the output at a prescribed cycle and outputting the converted digital value; a behavior scene determining means 2 for determining the behavior scene of the user based on the acceleration value; and an activity quantity computing means 3 for extracting a part of a bit string composed of bits b<SB>1</SB>-b<SB>16</SB>indicating the acceleration value and computing the quantity of activity by using the extracted part.
