PURPOSE:To facilitate unifying and changing specifications among device types by making an optical write head intelligent and making it independent of a printer body. CONSTITUTION:An optical write head 72 has a fluorescent lamp 9, and a lamp heater 10 is provided on the lamp 9. A liquid crystal light shutter 25 is arranged under the fluorescent lamp 9, and a focusing lens 84 which focuses the light from this shutter 25 on a photosensitive body 70 is provided under the shutter 25. A lamp temperature sensor 16 is attached to one end of the lamp heater 10, and an LCS panel temperature sensor 18 is attached to the end part of the liquid crystal optical shutter 25, and these sensors detect temperatures. An ambient temperature sensor 17 is provided in an about center part of the optical write head 72 and detects the temperature. Outputs of these temperature sensors are sent to a microcontroller 4, and the microcontroller 4 performs the control based on these detected values.
