The invention relates to an arrangement for securing a gearshift lever (5) trim base (43) to the periphery of a surrounding covering (3), in which guiding means (8) are provided on the lower face (31) of said covering (3), which guiding means can position the base of the trim (43) upon engagement in the corresponding holes (44) provided at the base of the trim (43), said base (43) being pressed against the aforementioned lower face (31) by a strap (7) having holes (74) in which the guiding means (8) are engaged. The invention is characterised in that the strap (7) and/or the guiding means (8) are disposed in a housing (2) beneath the lower face (31) of the surrounding covering (3).
