PURPOSE:To both simplify construction of a tool mounting part and reduce a tool exchanging time, by mounting and removing a tool utilizing rotation of a main spindle. CONSTITUTION:A main spindle 1 is rotated in a low speed, and if a detecting protrusion 19 of a tightening nut 14 approaches to a detecting switch 25, rotation of the main spindle 1 is stopped by a signal from the detecting switch 25. Simultaneously with the stop of said rotation, a lock pin 22 of a lock means 21 is advanced by switching a solenoid valve 24, and the nut 14 is fixed in a rotary direction of the main spindle 1 by engaging the pin 22 with a lock hole 18. Subsequently, the main spindle 1 is reversely rotated, and a tool holding member 8 is taken out by its dead weight from the main spindle 1 by placing a position of a turning effect-transmitting key to agree with the position of the lock hole 18. Next the new member 8 is mounted to the main spindle 1. This mounting and removing operation is performed by utilizing the rotation of the main spindle 1.
