A water-absorbing master batch chip composition for polystyrene foam trays is provided to realize excellent water absorbing property, and to improve the appearance and hygienic characteristics of trays for fish or meat by absorbing blood or other fluids. A water-absorbing master batch chip composition for polystyrene foam trays comprises: 100 parts by weight of polystyrene as a base resin; 1-80 parts by weight of an organic anionic sulfonate represented by the following formula (I) or the formula (II); 1-75 parts by weight of calcium carbonate(CaCO3); and 1-50 parts by weight of talc. In the formulae, each of R and R1 represents a C13-C18 alkane residue.
