PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display and electronic equipment capable of performing display having high contrast by suppressing unnecessary fluorescence. SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display 1 includes a drive electrode 14 and a common electrode 28 arranged oppositely, and a microcapsule 24 arranged between the drive electrode 14 and the common electrode 28. The microcapsule 24 has a substrate 25a including a fluorescent material and extinction migration particles 30 provided with an extinction part absorbing fluorescent energy of the substrate 25a. In the above composition, the unnecessary fluorescence due to the substrate 25a is suppressed in black display, and high contrast display can be performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
