PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper picking cylinder having no fear of offset of printing ink to machine components adjacent to the paper picking cylinder from a sheet, providing that there is a sheet side edge which is not coated. SOLUTION: In order to support a printing sheet, the paper picking cylinder 6 includes at least one supporting shell 7 to support the printing sheet and to generate a negative pressure region between the printing sheets. The supporting shell 7 extends over the entire length of the printing sheet. The length between the tip part 12 of the printing sheet and the tip part 21 of the negative pressure region is the circumference length 22 of at least one-fourth of the sheet length 14 of the printing sheet.
