PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for specifically detecting or separating peptide or protein which has at least two same or different residues of amino acid selected from alginine or lysine. SOLUTION: The detection or separation method of peptide or protein includes a process for bringing a sample, which contains peptide or protein having at least two same or different residues of the amino acid selected from alginine and lysine into contact with a detection or separation reaction agent comprising a polyphenol compound.
