PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a journal part more efficiently than a conventional means. SOLUTION: This hollow roll comprises a hollow roll material tube, and the journal part formed by integrating a journal shaft made of metal and joined to the end of the hollow roll material tube, with a fitting flange made of metal softer than the metal of the journal shaft. A hole is bored in the center of the fitting flange, and a pressurizing flange part larger in diameter than the hole of the fitting flange is formed at a joint end of the journal shaft to the fitting flange. A flange part larger in diameter than a columnar part smaller in diameter than the hole of the fitting flange is continuously formed at the center of the pressurizing flange part through the columnar part, and in a state of inserting the columnar part and the flange part into the hole of the fitting flange, an abutting part of the fitting flange against the pressurizing flange part is plastically deformed to squeeze a part of the fitting flange into a space between the pressurizing flange part, the columnar part and the flange part continuous with it by plastic flow, thus forming the journal part with the journal shaft and the fitting flange integrated.
