A quaternary ammonium salt encapsulated by a polymeric microcapsule an me thods for manufacturing such microcapsules are described. The quaternary amm onium salt can be cetylpyridinium chloride. The polymeric microcapsule encap sulating the quaternary ammonium salt can be used as an ingredient in a dent ifrice.
