<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system, a printer and a tape cassette, allowing easy acquisition of a format fit for a tape printer and a tape that is a print medium. <P>SOLUTION: In this printing system having the tape printer and a server, the tape printer reads a cassette ID specifying the downloadable format from a wireless tag (S102: YES) of an installed tape cassette (S103), and transmits it to the server together with a printer ID that is identification information of one's own type (S105). When receiving format data fit for the cassette ID and the printer ID together with the returned cassette ID from the server (S106), printing is performed based on the downloaded format data (S125) only when the tape cassette according with the returned cassette ID is installed (S124: YES). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
