DEVICE FOR DISCRIMINATING ARTICLE MADE OF OPTICAL PASSIVE DEVICE AND DEVICE FOR DECIDING DURABILITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a discriminator capable of discriminating and controlling an article made of an optical passive device by a simple constitution and a device for deciding a durability.

SOLUTION: An optical transmitter using the article made of the optical passive device has an optical input/output monitor means monitoring the optical input and optical output of the article made of the optical passive device respectively and a loss arithmetic means 17 obtaining a loss in the article made of the optical passive device on the basis of the result of the monitor of the optical input/output monitor means. The optical transmitter further has an article discriminating means 18 discriminating the article made of the optical passive device by comparing an article information indicating the correspondence of loss characteristics and the article and the loss obtained by the loss arithmetic means.
