PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system capable of discriminating on-street parking by an appropriate means, alarming drivers, and appropriately guiding users to parking locations. SOLUTION: When an ACC power supply is operated and turned off, an ACC detection part 15 detects this and instructs a control part 11 to execute a program. A current position detecting part 14 detects the current position and determines whether the current position is inside facilities or is in a parking lot, on the basis of map data stored in a map data part 17. When it is determined that the current position is neither in facilities nor in a parking lot, the navigation system 10 determines that the current position is on-road parking and issues an alarms to a driver. Then the navigation system 10 searches for parking lots close to the current position, and a route search part 16 searches for the optimal route from the current position to the parking lots and performs route guidance for the driver.
