PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high emission efficiency/long life-light emitting element of an organometallic complex capable of converting excitation triplet state into light-emitting and performing operation for a long time and a light-emitting device using the light emitting element. SOLUTION: The light-emitting element having a pair of electrodes composed of a positive electrode and a negative electrode, the organometallic complex expressed by the following formula (5) between a pair of the electrodes, and a light-emitting layer containing a compound having a bigger energy gap than that of the organometallic complex or a compound having a bigger ionization potential than that of the organometallic complex and a smaller electron affinity than that of the organometallic complex and the light-emitting device using the light-emitting element.
