PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of easily embedding electronic watermark data even if an original document does not have a grouping of sufficient margin region. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus capable of embedding electronic watermark data is provided with: a peripheral edge margin calculating means for calculating the size of a peripheral edge margin region not to be a print target in the peripheral edge portion of a printable region where the original document can be printed; a print region shifting means for shifting the print region to be a print target of the printable region to the peripheral edge on the basis of a result of calculation by the peripheral edge margin calculating means; and an embedding means for embedding electronic watermark data into a newly formed peripheral edge margin region after shifting by the print region shifting means. With this configuration, the print region is shifted to the peripheral edge portion of the printable region to form a grouping of new peripheral edge margin region, and the electronic watermark data can be embedded in the new peripheral edge margin region.
