PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problem that in special playback and random access of an AV stream, information (entry information) relating time information of the AV stream to address information is very useful, the entry information having higher access performance for an arbitrary position of the AV stream improve as they are prepared frequency, while the upper limit value on standard may be decided in the total number of entry information to be registered, when the entry information is prepared uniformly with short intervals and especially a stream of low bit rate is recorded for a long time, the registered number of the entry information reaches the upper limit value before storage capacity of a recording medium is used up, subsequen recording cannot be performed. SOLUTION: When preparing and recording entry information, recording interval of management information is controlled in accordance with the bit rate of video information, a kind and capacity of the recording medium, and a state of the management information already recorded.
