PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile robot and a robot movement control method that can naturally follow a moving target. SOLUTION: The robot movement control method is used for following a moving target 2 while maintaining a predetermined relative position. By the method, the mobile robot 1 detects the direction of the target 2 by means of a camera or the like and determines a target position of the mobile robot 1 in accordance with the detected direction of the target 2.
