PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce such a state that an image is displayed in a second display device having characteristics different from those of a first display device by using the first drsplay device. SOLUTION: A motion detecting unit 100 detects the motion of an image from an input image signal. A subfield developing unit 200 develops the input image signal into a subfield. A light quantity accumulating unit 300 calculates the light quantity, which is integrated on the retinas of a person when the person observes the input image signal, artificially from both the direction of the motion of the image and the light emitting pattern of the subfield, and displays the light quantity on the first display device. The present invention can be applied to the case, in which an LCD is used to reproduce the state of displaying the image in a PDP having characteristics different from those of the LCD.
