PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate temperature characteristics of a liquid crystal without requiring a large amount of memory capacity in a lookup table for converting subfield data. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device is provided with a digital signal subfield conversion circuit 130 and a temperature compensation circuit 140. The digital signal subfield conversion circuit 130 refers to the lookup table 132 to convert an image signal to be displayed into the subfield data in which on/off by every subfield is determined. The temperature compensation circuit 140 refers to a temperature characteristic compensation subfield table 142 to generate subfield data for compensation corresponding to acquired temperature.
