PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope apparatus equipped with an illuminating part having a small-scaled circuit for a control part to control the lighting of an LED light source, and also, configured to perform the replacement work of the LED light source in a short time. SOLUTION: A BF/DF changeover switch 13 acquires instructions to switch either of a bright field light source unit 101 or a dark field light source unit 109 to a turn-on state. A CPU 4041 identifies the type of the illuminating device 9 based on a voltage drop in an identification resistance 405 having a different resistance value for every device-type. Device-type information in which the correspondence between each light source unit and a limit resistance that decides the amount of current to be supplied to each light source unit is acquired for every device-type is recorded in a non-volatile memory 4044. The CPU 4041 controls the amount of current to be supplied to the light source unit by selecting the limit resistance having the correspondence to such the optical unit that is instructed to be switched to the turn-on state among the light source units, in the device-type information about the identified device type of the illuminating device 9.
