PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the pattern precision of a functional material film in a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: A pair of substrates provided with electrodes respectively are prepared. Insulated films are formed on surfaces having electrodes formed thereon of the substrates by an ink jet method. Alignment films are formed on insulated films of the substrates by the ink jet method. The pair of substrate are stuck to each other with a space therebetween so that surfaces having insulating films and alignment films formed thereon face each other, and a liquid crystal is injected to the space.
