PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric water heater which obtains the required discharging amount and can early finalize hot water supply if the operation redoing time of a hot water supply switch is short. SOLUTION: The electric water heater has a hot water supply pump 7, a hot water supply switch 8, a control means 9 which controls the hot water supply amount so as to increase by stages, and a hot water supply switch-on time metering means 10-a hot water supply switch-off time metering means 11 which meter the on-off time of the hot water supply switch 8. If ON metering time is above the first predetermined time and OFF metering time is less than the second predetermined time, when the hot water supply switch 8 is once OFF and is then again ON, hot water supply starts from the third predetermined time progress time in the first step of the hot water supply amount per unit time on. Thereby, in the middle of the hot water supply, if the operation redoing time of the hot water supply switch is short, the hot water supply starts from the third predetermined time progress time on, the required discharging amount is obtained, and it is possible to early finalize the hot water supply.
