PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document-retrieving device which reduces loads on the users, and executes high-precision retrieval by making effective use of bibliographic information or the like which is preliminarily added to documents, automatically generating retrieval conditions in accordance with an appearance frequency of meta information extracted from the bibliographic information or the like, and selectively presenting them to users. SOLUTION: The document-retrieving device, which executes retrieval to registered documents, is provided with; a document meta information extracting means which extracts meta information on documents to be registered and registers them with a document meta information database; and a retrieval condition generating means which executes statistical processing on the basis of the document meta information registered to the document meta information database and generates, as a candidate of retrieval conditions, meta information having a high appearance frequency among meta information included in documents prepared by a retrieval user.
