PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver capable of setting a timer to present time by surely acquiring time information contained in a digital broadcast signal. SOLUTION: The digital broadcast receiver includes a digital broadcast receiving means, capable of receiving digital broadcast, a time information extraction means for extracting time information from the digital broadcast signal, a timer, a reservation information holding means for holding reservation information, and a timer setting means for setting the timer to the present time based on the time information. The power is supplied to the digital broadcast receiver by an AC power supply. When the digital broadcast receiver is connected to the AC power supply, the digital broadcast receiving means selects a channel for the digital broadcast reserved by the reservation information held by the reservation information holding means. The time information extraction means extracts the time information from the broadcast signal of the selected channel, and the timer setting means sets the timer to the present time, based on the time information extracted.
