METHOD FOR CONTROLLING HYDROGEN ION CONCENTRATION, IGNITABILITY OF PLANT CHARCOAL SUCH AS WOOD CHARCOAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for conserving safely a plant charcoal such as wood charcoal which is a porous material in which pores serve as homes for microbes and is a soil improver for developing a soil environment preferable for the plants by neutralizing alkalinity of the plant charcoal which is a cause of a deleterious effect on the growth of plants and by reducing the ignitability of the plant charcoal. SOLUTION: This method comprises: immersing the plant charcoal in flowing or staying water to penetrate water into the charcoal and to elute potassium carbonate out of the charcoal by utilizing high solubility of potassium carbonate in water which is a cause of alkalinity and ignitability of the plant charcoal.
