PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a weld joint that is excellent in property in which brittle fracture is hard to be propagated and in which, even if propagated, it stops eventually, namely, a weld joint excellent in brittle fracture propagation resistance property, in a multi-layer butt weld joint of steel plates. SOLUTION: In the multi-layer butt weld joint of steel plates, between a surface welding layer 2a and a reverse welding layer 2b, there is formed a reform layer 3x in which toughness is improved by a compression residual stress imparted by ultrasonic wave impact process. This reform layer is made the multi-layer butt weld joint that functions as a fracture resistance layer for suppressing or stopping propagation of brittle fracture. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
