PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is superior in security, cycle life characteristics, and reliability. SOLUTION: The separator for the nonaqueous secondary battery comprises polyolefine fine porous membranes integrally having porous layers formed of heat resistant resin at both surfaces thereof, one surface of which is 0.01-0.05μm in average bore diameter and the other surface of which is 0.2-1μm in average bore diameter. The nonaqueous secondary battery is provided with the separator for the nonaqueous secondary battery, a positive electrode plate including an active material for storing and discharging lithium, and a negative electrode plate including an active material for storing and discharging lithium. The surface on a smaller bore diameter side is assigned for a positive electrode side and the surface on a larger bore diameter side is assigned for a negative electrode side.
