摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a source driver which can achieve high grayscale accuracy with an increased number of grayscales when polarity inversion drive is performed, an electro-optical device, a projection-type display device, and an electronic instrument. SOLUTION: The source driver 30 includes P lines of grayscale signal lines, a switch voltage selecting circuit 57 that outputs Q kinds of grayscale voltages among at least (Q+1) (Q≤P) kinds of grayscale voltages based upon the polarity of a voltage of an electro-optic substance, Q lines of switch signal lines, a grayscale voltage being supplied from the switch voltage selecting circuit 57, first and second DACs 58A and 58B that each output a grayscale voltage among grayscale voltages of the grayscale signal lines and switch signal lines based on grayscale data, and a source line driver section that drives a source line based on an output from the first or second DAC 58A or 58B. The source line driver section generates a drive signal of the source line based on the output from the second DAC 58B, and then generates a drive signal of the source line based on the output from the first DAC 58A within one horizontal scan period.
