PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and effectively secure durability of a power train. SOLUTION: In a FFV vehicle 10 equipped with an engine 200 capable of using ethanol blended fuel, ECU 100 executes power train protection process. In this process, an upper limit torque TEMAX which is an upper limit value of output torque TE of the engine 200 is set according to gear ratio materialized by ECT 400 which is a transmission. The ECU 100 calculates estimated torque TEEST by correcting reference torque calculated from load ratio KL of the engine 200 according to ethanol concentration DE. If the estimated torque TEEST is higher than the upper limit torque TEMAX, ignition timing or throttle opening, or both of those are set to keep the output torque TE at the upper limit torque TEMAX to restrict the output torque TE.
