SOLUTION: In a method for cutting the fluorescent lamp Li into a glass tube part L3 and a cap part L1 to subject the same to mechanical sorting, a first and a second feed strips 1 and 2 for feeding fluorescent lamps Li in parallel are operated to move the fluorescent lamps Li in the direction crossing a feed direction with respect to the first and second feed strips 1 and 2 according to the kind of the fluorescent lamps Li to be treated to form a space S between the fluorescent lamps Li, the fluorescent lamps Li are fed by the first and second feed strips 1 and 2 so as to protrude the boundary parts L2 of the fluorescent lamps Li from the feed surfaces of the first and second feed strips 1 and 2, the cutting means 4n of a cutter 4 is positioned at each of the boundary parts L2, the first and second feed strips 1 and 2 and the cutter 4 are operated to cut the protruded boundary parts L2 of the fluorescent lamps Li by the cutting means 4n to sort the glass pipe parts L3 and the cap parts L1.
