PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an underwear type absorbent article, capable of manufacturing an underwear type absorbent article with excellent outside appearance and fitting property while reducing the quantity of elastic sheets to be used for an outer layer sheet. SOLUTION: The underwear type absorbent article 1 includes an exterior body composed of the outer layer sheet made of the elastic sheet and an inner layer sheet mainly made of a non-elastic base material sheet. The outer layer sheet is divided into an abdomen outer layer sheet on the abdomen side and a back outer layer sheet on the back side, and the outer surface of the part of the absorbent article located between the abdomen outer layer sheet and the back outer layer sheet is formed by a crotch outer layer sheet. According to the method of manufacturing the absorbent article 1, respective strip-shaped original fabrics 120a and 120b of the abdomen outer layer sheet and the back outer layer sheet in the extended state are jointed to a strip-shaped original fabric 130 of the inner layer sheet to form a continuous body 110 of the exterior body. After that, trims 90 for forming leg openings are removed from the continuous body of the exterior body, and leg holes 101 for forming leg openings are formed in the continuous body.
