PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a radiation picture imaging apparatus, which uses a solid-state detector for reading the radiation picture by emitting read light, small in size, low in cost and improved in operability. SOLUTION: The pre-exposure of irradiating a mamma 44 with a small amount of radiation X for storing electrostatic latent images in the solid-state detector 24 is performed, and a transmission dose is obtained by irradiating the solid-state detector 24 with the read light from LED chips 82a-82i constituting a detection/elimination light source unit 50. Then, after main exposure is carried out by setting a main exposure condition according to the transmission dose, the solid-state detector 24 is irradiated with the read light from the LED chip 80 constituting the detection/elimination light source unit 50, and the stored radiation picture is read.
