PURPOSE:To remarkably improve the temperature characteristic of an optical element, by fixing the optical element in a groove carved in a base plate with low melting point glass. CONSTITUTION:Two optical fibers 1 and 2 which are joined with each other with an interference film 4 in between are set in a V-groove 5 of a base plate 5 and a 3rd optical fiber 3 which is jointed with the side faces of the optical fibers 1 and 2 is set in another V-groove 5c. After setting the optical fibers 1, 2, and 3 to the base plate 5, a keeping plate 6, to which slurry 7 is applied to a prescribed thickness, is put on the base plate 5. The slurry 7 is the raw material of low melting point glass prepared by mixing powdery frit with an organic binder. By burning the base plate 5, on which the keeping plate 6 is put, under an integrated state, low melting point glass 8 is formed from the slurry 7 and the optical fibers 1-3 are buried in the base plate 5. Thus the base plate 5, optical fibers 1-3, and keeping plate 6 are integrally joined and fixed to each other in one body. |
