A drive wheel having a braking device activated by a drive shaft is provided to restrict sudden reverse motion of a vehicle while surmounting a hill by controlling the wheel through a rotation of a control unit. A drive wheel having a braking device activated by a drive shaft comprises a central shaft of the drive wheel, an input member into which input torque is input, a middle part of the drive wheel, which is installed on the central shaft, a braking member, which is coupled coaxially with the middle part of the drive wheel through a locking member and a braking part. The middle part of the drive wheel has a clearance with respect to the input member, so that the middle part outputs the rotation torque transferred from the input member. The braking part is coupled to the frame to provide frictional force to the braking member. If the input member rotates to push the middle part of the drive wheel, the locking member is released, so that the middle part of the drive wheel is separated from the braking member. If the input member pushes the input member, the middle part is coupled to the braking member through the locking member.
