PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate inconvenience caused by the non-coincidence between the content of image data and the content of supplemental data. SOLUTION: This information processing method comprises steps of: acquiring the scene information of image data from supplemental data appended to the image data; identifying the scene of an image represented by the image data based on the image data; and storing the identified scene in the supplemental data when there is non-coincidence between a scene indicated by the scene information and the scene identified by the step of identifying the scene of the image.
