PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process an inquiry with designation of a plurality of objects of value retrieval without needing search of a structured document stored in a database. SOLUTION: The structured document retrieval system 50 includes a value index table 58 and a retrieval processing part 53. The value index table 58 stores an index associated with a node contained in the structured document stored in the database 42, which includes node information containing position information of the node and position information of a relevant node to the node. The retrieval processing part 53 narrows down candidates of a retrieval object node, when a retrieval condition shown by a retrieval request given from a client is related to a value retrieval for a plurality of nodes, with a relevant node common to the plurality of nodes being the retrieval object, by retrieving an index matched to each of the value retrieval conditions from the value index table, and searching position information of a matched relevant node from each of the retrieved indexes.
