PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information-reproducing device capable of increasing the effective area, when information is reproduced from an encoded image, and to provide an information reproduction method. SOLUTION: In the information-reproducing device, a position control part moves a light receiver 28, in a direction along an optical axis 53 of reproduction light S' in the range, where an imaged surface 51 crosses a light receiving surface 58 to make the light receiver 28 acquire an image of the reproduction light S' for each plurality of positions in this range. An information reproducing part acquires a prescribed range including imaged parts 60 from the respective images of the reproduction light S' fetched for each positions of the light receiver 28, and reproduces information from the encoded image obtained by combining these imaged parts.
