A casting unit, a dope applying method, and a solution casting method are provided to manufacture an optical functional film having a uniform thickness by adjusting a thickness of a lateral portion of a casting bead. A dope applying method comprises the steps of preparing a side dope(51a) for constituting a side portion of a bead(80) from a casting die(81), which discharges the side dope through a slit(126) extending in a widthwise direction of a support, preparing a middle dope(51c) for constituting a middle portion between the side portions of the bead, joining flows of the side dopes and the middle dope in the casting die having a partitioning member(140) formed with a cutout section so that the partitioning member forms a side flow passage for flowing the side dope and a middle flow passage for flowing the middle dope, and making a co-application of the side dopes and the middle dope.
