A mobile communication system and a method for processing signals are provided to obtain a reduced BER(Bit Error Rate) by providing path diversity and transmit diversity and increasing the total diversity of an STTD(Space Time Transmit Diversity) system. A mobile communication system comprises a mobile antenna(212) and a compensation circuit. The mobile antenna is arranged so as to receive a plurality of signals through multiple signal paths from a plurality of remote antennas. In this case, the signals include a first signal(S1) transmitted from a first antenna at the first time(T), the complement of the conjugate of a second signal(S2) transmitted from a second antenna at the first time, the second signal transmitted from the first antenna at the second time(2T), and the complement of the conjugate of the first signal transmitted from the second antenna at the second time. The compensation circuit is combined so as to receive a plurality of estimation signals corresponding to each signal path and the signals received through the mobile antenna. In response to the estimation signals, the first signal transmitted from the first antenna, and the conjugate of the first signal transmitted from the second antenna, the compensation circuit creates the first symbol estimation value. Also, in response to the estimation signals, the second signal transmitted from the second antenna, and the complement of the conjugate of the second signal transmitted from the first antenna, the compensation circuit creates the second symbol estimation value.
