PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a musical piece kind determining device, a musical piece kind determining method and a musical piece kind determining program that can easily and precisely determine the kind of a musical piece with a small computational complexity.

SOLUTION: The musical piece kind determining device which analyzes a musical piece signal based upon an input musical piece signal to determine the kind of the musical piece includes an arithmetic means of computing the electric power of the input musical piece signal, a power comparing means of comparing the electric power computed by the arithmetic means with a predetermined value, an analyzing means of taking a time-series analysis of the musical piece signal, a statistical processing means of performing statistical processing on the analysis value obtained by the analyzing means, and a decision means of determining the kind of the musical piece signal based upon the analysis value obtained by the analyzing means and the statistical processing value obtained through the statistical processing of the statistical processing means.
