PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quickly startable electric compressor. SOLUTION: A refrigerant contained in a compressor body at the outlet side 11b is heated by heating a motor 12 while the operation of an air conditioner for an automobile is suspended. The temperature of the refrigerant at the outlet side 11b is raised to prevent the refrigerant from being liquefied at the outlet side 11b of the compressor body 11 so that the air conditioner can be quickly started. The refrigerant liquefied at the outlet side 11b of the compressor body 11 may be pushed out by rotating the motor 12 at a rotational speed lower than that during the normal operation.
