PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: for manufacturing a shaft-like member having structure where an expanded-end part of a large diameter is provided at the one end of a shaft part, it has been usual heretofore that a small diameter part and a large diameter part to be provided at the end part is manufactured separately then they are integrated by a mechanical or metallurgical means such as welding since the above shaft-like member is difficult to be manufactured by a forging process, however manufacture by such a mechanical manufacturing method requires long manufacture steps or wastes much material resulting in manufacturing cost rise. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing a shaft-like member having an expanded head part has the steps of: using a metal-made slender long bar material and forming a circular expanded part having a prescribed length and diameter at the one end thereof by compressing the one end at room temperature; and reducing the thickness of the circular expanded part so that the circular expanded part assumes an annular shape and also bulging the expanded part outward by pressing the expanded part from the bar material side.
