PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for an alkaline battery in which by improving liquid absorbing characteristics of an electrolytic solution, retaining the electrolytic solution for a long time, and suppressing growth of dendrite in a negative electrode, short circuit is prevented which is low in electric resistance of a separator itself, in which thickness is suppressed after liquid absorption of the electrolytic solution, which enables to increase capacity of a positive electrode mixture and a negative electrode mixture, and which can be manufactured at a low cost and by using various fibers. SOLUTION: This is the separator for the alkaline battery in which a nanofiber consisting of an alkaline resistant polymer of which the fibrous diameter is 10 to 1000 nm and a dry nonwoven fabric constituted of the alkaline resistant polymer are laminated and integrated.
