PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic congestion informing system 21 capable of maintaining accident prevention by informing a driver of a following vehicle 12 of the tail position of traffic congestion from a vehicle 12 at the tail of traffic congestion at the occurrence of traffic congestion. SOLUTION: A plurality of signal lights 22 and a plurality of vehicle detecting parts for detecting the traveling state of vehicles 12 on a road 11 are installed along the road 11 on which the vehicles 12 travel. A control part discriminates the traffic congestion tail of the vehicles 12 from the traveling state of the vehicles 12 detected by the adjacently installed vehicle detecting parts 23. When the traffic congestion tail is discriminated by the control part, the traffic congestion tail is informed by blinking of the signal light 22 installed near the traffic congestion tail.
