PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier and a developer containing the carrier having excellent durability and favorable carrier deposition on an edge image part and a solid image part from the initial stage, capable of forming a high definition image for a long period of time, and having favorable carrier deposition occurring on a solid image part with lapse of time, and to provide a developer container containing the developer, and a process cartridge, an image forming apparatus and an image forming method for development by use of the above developer. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an electrophotographic carrier is disclosed, which includes at least a coating step of forming a coating layer on a core material and a calcining step, wherein the method includes a step of allowing at least carrier particles to collide with and/or rub one another.
