PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thawing apparatus having excellent heat efficiency equivalent or above a conventional thawing device, and keeping relative humidity in a thawing chamber at nearly 100% when operating the thawing apparatus. SOLUTION: This thawing apparatus has in a thawing chamber a control device which controls a cooling mechanism and a steam supply mechanism so as to satisfy formula (1) and formula (2). Formula (1):ΔQc≈ΔQv (wherein,ΔQc is sensible heat to be deprived by cooling with a cooling body, andΔQv is latent heat and sensible heat to be added with steam from a steam emitting body).
