A user interface method for voice recognition and a mobile terminal for the same are provided to improve the convenience of users by preventing voice recognition errors and to increase the battery duration by minimizing the power consumption in driving a voice recognition function. A mobile terminal comprises an input part(106), a sensor part(109), a controller(108), and a power part(110). The input part detects a key input to activate voice recognition mode. The sensor part detects a folder open operation to activate voice recognition mode. The controller drives voice recognition mode according to an operation state detected through the input part or the sensor part. While voice recognition mode is active, the controller recognizes a voice command and executes an associated function according to the recognized voice command. The power part detects whether power is supplied to the mobile terminal from the external in order to activate voice recognition mode. |
