METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING BASE STATION AND BAND IN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and a system for determining a base station and a band in a communication system are provided to determine either a base station or a band in consideration of the number of mobile stations of each base station. A base station periodically receives band-by-band channel information, including the channel information of currently assigned bands and the channel information of unassigned bands, from mobile stations(200). Analyzing the received channel information, the base station confirms the number of mobile stations for each band and band-by-band instantaneous transfer speeds for each mobile station. Based on the number of mobile stations for each band and band-by-band instantaneous transfer speeds for each mobile station, the base station calculates band-by-band data rates for each mobile station. Then the base station calculates the ratio of the data rate of a band allocated to each mobile station to the data rate of a band not allocated to each mobile station and deduces inter-band data transmission gain values(202). The base station extracts the highest value among the deduced inter-band data transmission gain values(204). The base station confirms whether a mobile station equivalent to the extracted value is a virtual mobile station(206). If so, the base station searches for the mobile station and changes a band allocated to the mobile station(208).
